Mechanical Focus

Isolating position speed mechanics, crisp route tree architecture, body adjustments to create downfield separation, and over-the-shoulder ball tracking skills.

Executing on-field adjustments via press/off-man release drills, open-field WR vs DB target matchups, and highly competitive live 7v7 or 5v5 scrimmages.

    The Melbourne adidas Polynesian Bowl Football Combine & Showcase is delivered by Rookie Me in partnership with Iron Armour Academy, with support from the Ginnen Group and the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame.

    Please notify the event organisers as soon as possible via the admin@rookieme.com.

  • Will food and drinks be provided?

    Participants should arrive appropriately hydrated and prepared for physical activity.

  • Can parents attend?

    Yes. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend and observe from designated spectator areas where available.

  • Does participation guarantee a scholarship, invitation or pathway opportunity?

    No.Participation does not guarantee selection, scholarship offers, athlete placement, invitations or progression into any future program or pathway opportunity.

  • Can attending this event help me pursue opportunities in the United States?

    The event is designed to provide exposure to coaches, mentors and pathway leaders involved in football development. While no opportunities can be guaranteed, standout athletes may be identified for future educational, development and football pathway opportunities.

  • What happens after the event?

    All athletes will receive their verified testing results. Standout athletes may also be identified for future development, education and football pathway opportunities. Any follow-up opportunities will be communicated separately.

  • Will I receive my testing results?

    Yes. Participants will receive verified athletic testing results on Rookie Me Connect following the event, including key performance metrics recorded throughout the combine.

  • Who will be evaluating athletes?

    Athletes will be evaluated by Jesse Sapolu, Ma'a Tanuvasa and experienced coaching personnel from the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame team, alongside local delivery partners.

    Who are Jesse Sapolu and Ma'a Tanuvasa?

    Jesse Sapolu is a four-time Super Bowl Champion, Co-Founder and Inductee of the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame.

    Ma'a Tanuvasa is a two-time Super Bowl Champion, Co-Founder and Inductee of the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame.

    Both have dedicated their post-playing careers to athlete development and creating opportunities for future generations.

  • Who can attend the Melbourne adidas Polynesian Bowl Football Combine & Showcase?

    The event is open to invited male athletes aged 13–17 years. Athletes from Australian football, Rugby League, Rugby Union and American Football backgrounds are encouraged to register.

  • What athletic testing will be conducted?

    Athletes may participate in:

    • Height and weight measurements
    • 40-Yard Dash
    • Vertical Jump
    • Broad Jump
    • 20-Yard Shuttle (5-10-5)
    • Three-Cone Drill

    Testing protocols may be adjusted based on event requirements.

  • Will I receive an adidas Athlete Tee?

    Yes. Every registered participant will receive an official adidas Athlete Tee at check-in. Tee sizes are subject to availability.

  • What should I bring?

    Athletes should bring:

    • Training attire
    • Athletic footwear/boots suitable for synthetic turf surfaces
    • Water bottle
    • Any required medical items
    • Positive attitude and willingness to compete
  • Do I need previous American Football experience?

    No. The event has been designed for athletes from AFL, Rugby League, Rugby Union and American Football backgrounds. The focus is on identifying athletic potential and transferable sporting attributes.

  • How are the event groups allocated?

    Athletes will be assigned to either:

    Group 1: 8:30am – 11:30am

    Group 2: 12:00pm – 3:30pm

    Allocations will be based on position group requirements and event logistics. Your confirmed session time will be emailed prior to the event.

  • How will I know if I have secured a place?

    Athletes will receive confirmation via email. Due to limited capacity, registering does not automatically guarantee participation.

  • How are athletes selected?

    Registrations are reviewed based on eligibility requirements, position group availability and event capacity. Priority may be given to athletes whose profile aligns with the objectives of the showcase.

  • Is this event open to everyone?

    The event is primarily invitation-only, with limited places available across each position group. However, if positions remain available after the invitation process, additional athletes from the public may be offered the opportunity to participate.

  • How do I register?

    Athletes must complete the online registration form. Places are limited and participation is subject to athlete suitability, position group requirements and event capacity.

  • How much does the event cost?

    The Melbourne adidas Polynesian Bowl Football Combine & Showcase is free to attend for approved participants.
