You are invited to participate in the Rookie Me / Geelong Falcons / AFL Barwon - Athlete Performance Profiling event. Your attendance is an opportunity to understand your athletic ability, start profiling your physical development and taking on a new challenge to improve yourself.
The event will be conducted by the AFLs verified testing body and our Regional Testing Partner, Rookie Me. It consists of a full battery of standardised athletic testing, including anthropometric measures, jumps, speed, agility and endurance, the same as completed at the AFL/W National Combine.
This event is designed to support you in understanding your physical capabilities and growth areas in an unbiased and regulated environment.
The ‘Profiling event’ will be open to all Boys and Girls from our region born in 2007 through to 2012, who are strongly encouraged to take up this exciting opportunity. As we know players evolve and develop physically at different rates, so our aim is to also be as inclusive as possible and ensure we have players in this environment that will really embrace the opportunity and put their best foot forward.

What You'll Experience at the Athlete Performance Profiling Event
AFL Agility
An assessment of a player's ability to change direction at high speeds. Agility is a powerful weapon when players are in tight situations or dodging an opponent.
20m Sprint
An assessment of a player's ability to accelerate and reach top speed over a distance of 20m. Measuring the 5m, 10m and 20m splits, we gather insights on how well a player can explode and burst out of a pack.
Running Vertical Jump
An assessment of a player's ability to gain momentum and jump off one foot and reach the highest point. By measuring the running jumps, this test provides insight into how much impact a player can have in aerial contests.
Standing Vertical Jump
Assessing each player's ability to jump straight up from a standing position to the highest point (counter movement jumps). Generating power from a stationary position can indicate a player's lower body strength, highly suitable for AFL/AFLW football.
Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery
An assessment of each player's ability to recover from repeated bouts of running. A player’s ability to recover is important in football as you are able to perform consistency across the game.

Is this a prerequisite or qualification for ongoing participation in the Geelong Falcons or AFL Barwon talent region trials or training program?
Participation in this event should not be regarded as a prerequisite or qualification for ongoing participation in the Geelong Falcons or AFL Barwon talent region trials or training programs. Rookie Me will share the performance data from this event with the Geelong Falcons and AFL Barwon program staff who will work closely with all community clubs throughout the upcoming season to monitor the form and development of all players. Opportunities to be involved in the Geelong Falcons or AFL Barwon program, whether you elect to participate in this event or not, will be ongoing through the upcoming season.

How much is the event?
The Rookie Me / Geelong Falcons / AFL Barwon Athlete Performance Profiling event is a once-off payment of $39.99 incl.GST

When do event registrations close?
Event registrations close 9am on December 2, 2024.

When and how will I find out my allocated time slot?
Your allocated time slot will be sent to athletes by 5pm on Wednesday 4th December, 2024.

What do I need to wear/bring?
On the day of the event, be sure to bring:
- Training gear that is non restrictive.
- Quality footwear for best grip on flooring.
- Lunch and/or food requirements.
- Drink bottle.
Please bring personal medicines (asthma inhaler), if you require any assistance during the event, please notify a Rookie Me team member.

What is the Rookie Me Testing Portal?
The Rookie Me Testing Portal is a web application where you can access your verified testing data that you complete at official Rookie Me combine testing events.
Athletes can set up their profile and compare and analyse their testing results to gain insights into their physical capabilities.

Where can I see my profile and my testing results?
Your verified testing data will be uploaded post event to the Rookie Me Testing portal.
You will receive an email post the combine event, with the steps on how to access your account.
You will not be required to set up an account, as this is automatic for athletes attending the event.
